Shop News September 2018

It seems ironic that the last time we wrote the shop news we were still smarting from the beast from the east and praying for warmer weather. As our church minister always says, be careful what you pray for as the Good Lord always listens and answers your prayers, but not necessarily in the format you would wish for! Dare we pray for rain?

We had a wonderful response to our Syrian clothes appeal and we ended up taking just over 200 boxes to the Hinckley distribution Centre. So thank you all so much for your efforts and yes, we are going to do it all again, so if you have any unwanted mens, womens, childrens or baby clothes/shoes bedding etc. it would be greatly appreciated. It would help us tremendously too if you could forewarn us the day before that you are bringing articles so that we can bring the van rather than the car to work to transport everything safely. Please note all these have to be in a good clean condition and would help tremendously if they were buttoned up and folded. Rob’s grizzle from the last few times has had the desired effect and sorting is SO much easier, thank you.The cut off date for us receiving articles will be Saturday 13th October.

St Joseph’s Orphanage continues to flourish thanks to your kind donations raised through the sales of certain articles in the shop. With this in mind we are holding a Shop Samples Sales day on Thursday 15th November from 10am to 12.30pm upstairs in the workroom, where every single penny raised will go to the orphanage. There will be some amazing bargains (maybe Christmas presents?) with the simple advice, when they’re gone, they’re gone!!

As you may or may not already know Verona and I have, after much deliberation, decided to retire whilst we are still fit and healthy so the business has been put up for sale. Until new owners have been found rest assured the shop will carry on as normal and so will we!!

We have now had most of our Christmas fabrics delivered with a really good selection of Advent Calendars to choose from. Moda have recently brought out Wintertide by Janet Clare also a new William Morris Christmas, both of which have attracted a lot of attention. Lewis and Irene and Makower continue to produce some lovely stories of fabrics and we have just taken delivery of some wonderful new Batiks.

As you can see we have a very busy schedule workshop wise for you to choose from this term, we hope you like them. To ensure you’re getting on a particular workshop ring the shop and reserve your place NOW. They do fill up very quickly in most instances. One or two weekly classes have spaces available too, they will be filled on a first come first served basis.

All that remains is to thank you again for your continued support and we look forward to seeing you soon.

God Bless,

Verona and Rob
