Christmas is literally days away, yes really, and here I am still writing up our workshop programme. I know I’m a great procrastinator and feel that I have truly mastered the art, but this time really, it hasn’t been entirely my fault and no I haven’t been on a golf course since the end of September!
Firstly we have to say a massive thank you for your reaction to our 20th Birthday celebrations in September. We had cards, flowers, emails, donations and “hundreds” came through the door on the day to share a drink and a nibble with us. It meant so much to us to get your feed back over the service we try to provide at Sew and So’s and feel that we must have done something right to have got such a reaction. About the same time we also put out an appeal for good quality clothing and donations to send out to Syria to help out in the dreadful situation the refugees are facing with the onset of winter. Just to give you an update, in October through our church and yourselves, Verona and I delivered 230 banana boxes filled with clothes, shoes and bedding to the distribution centre in Wellingborough. We also have passed on nearly £1000 which has been donated to help pay for it’s safe delivery to Syria. Thank you all so so much for your support.
St. Joseph’s the orphanage in Thailand we are pleased to report is still “alive and well” and now supporting 50 children and 7 old age persons. The situation in Betong is very similar to the the problems the world over with bombings and killings on an almost daily basis. The foreign office declare it to be a “no go” area so all we can do is keep them in our thoughts and prayers and keep sending them funds. They in turn send us some wonderful pictures of the children enjoying the small pleasures you help to provide.
You will notice that sadly we have had to increase the price of our classes due to our room rates being altered. Our landlord over the years has been very fair over any price increases, insisting that our common cause was to support the orphanage financially. However with the ever increasing cost of living over the last twenty years things had to change, if only slightly. We do hope you understand and that you still feel you get great value for money for your classes and workshops. Hopefully you like the workshops we have planned for this new term.
All that remains now is for us to thank you for your continued support wish you all a most Blessed Christmas and look forward to seeing you in the New Year.
Rob and Verona
