This Monday afternoon sampler class is held over eleven Monday afternoons during the summer term, starting on the 13th of April. Suitable for all, from absolute beginners to those with more experience, it is a great introduction to the wonderful world of patchwork and quilting. You will learn a variety of patchwork techniques from cutting fabrics, learning to sew patchwork blocks to quilting and binding, in addition to using the correct tools and equipment which help to achieve consistent results. At the end of the course, you will have a beautiful quilt and the skills to create more patchwork projects. Finished size approximately 48" x 48".
Skills learnt will include: safe and accurate cutting with a rotary cutter, accurate piecing with a ¼" seam allowance, half-square triangles, flying geese blocks, foundation paper piecing, walking foot quilting, quilt-as-you-go joining technique, binding and finishing. This course requires a basic knowledge of how to use a sewing machine, thread the machine and wind a bobbin, and will require the student to complete additional work at home in between classes.
