Get creative using this fast and simple raw edge appliqué technique. A perfect project for those who have some experience with Free Motion Quilting but want to get better at it. In this design, the quilting is the star of the show, but it’s about embracing the imperfections. Decide on the size of your project – a cushion, long or square, or a runner or wall hanging. Vendulka will guide you through choosing your design, composition, and quilting.
In the sample shown the edges of the runner are pieced together and then the same fabrics are cut out into circles and leaves and bonded down. Free motion quilting is added to define the stems and add texture to the leaves and flowers. The stitching doesn’t want to be perfect, as the imperfections add to the whimsical nature of this project.
